MUMBAI, SEPT 18: Holy Family (Andheri) `A' won the Under-12 Division I title beating Don Bosco, Borivli 3-1 in the final at the MSSA-Castrol Azad Maidan in the Colgate Palmolive-sponsored Inter-Schools Football Tournament here today. It was a goalless full-time and the tie was resolved in the tie-breaker.Holy Family were the better team as they had a good attack headed by the hard-working Mathais Coutinho. But Bosco defence stood steady. In the first half, Holy Family were pressing forward in numbers but almost all their efforts came to nought. Only two fine runs by Coutinho nearly brought them the goals. He showed a good touch in evading defenders but came crashing down when the tough-tackling Bosco defenders confronted him.In the second half, Bosco pushed forward but they did not have a single chance. Instead off a counter move, Lim Monteiro's efforts nearly fetched a goal for Holy Family.Collecting the ball near his penalty area, Lim ran nearly the entirely length of the field but the ball gotstuck in the slush in the Bosco area even as their defenders closed in.Mathais Coutinho, David Christopher and Manmohan Singh scored for Holy Family while only Pratik Kurup was successful for the losing team.Even the third-placed match between Don Bosco, Matunga `A' and St Mary's SSC was decided in a shoot-out. St Mary's boys looked better in basics but Bosco defended manfully. However, in the tie-breaker, St Mary's failed to convert any of the four kicks and lost out. Don Bosco found the target through Dhiraj Malhotra and Bruce Fernandes.RESULTSUnder-14 (QF): St. Anne's Orlem 1 (Clint Fernandes) bt Don Bosco, Borivli 0; St. Stanislaus, Bandra 7 (Vikram Naronha 4, Kyle Mascarenhas 2, Yohann Pereira) bt St. Mary's ISC 1 (Karan Durante).Under-12 Div-III (SF): St. Dominic Savio, Andheri `B' 3 (John D'Souza, Pratik Shelar, Rakesh Bishwakarma) bt St. Paul's, Dadar 2 (Ashokan Satish, Salin Francisco).Under-10 (F): St. Mary's ISC `A' 2 (Areez Gazdar), Nevron D'Mello) bt BombayScottish 0; H: Our Lady of School, Dadar 2 (Clyson Cardoza, Amol Mohite) bt St. Mary's SSC `B' 0.
