HYDERABAD, MAR 3: Holi revelry claimed 17 lives in separate incidents across Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The police informed on Wednesday that three youths from Vivekananda Puram Colony in Neredmet, who had gone for a swim after the celebrations, drowned in the Kapra lake.

In other incidents, three boys were drowned while taking a bath in Godavari river in Badguna village in Nizamabad district while two youths, who went to wash themselves, were swept away by the swirling waters of Krishna river, a report from Vijayawada said.

Seven persons, including two women, were killed when a water tank, constructed at a basement of about three feet high, collapsed at a pilgrim centre at Kotanche village in Warangal district. The victims were fetching water from the tank after the celebrations, the police said.

In another incident, an 18-year-old boy from Medchal drowned when he went for a swim in a tank nearby.

Meanwhile, a Holi reveller Chandrasekhar, a resident of Sainagar, was stabbed to death by hisneighbour Ranga Reddy in an altercation that ensued between the two on Tuesday night, the Rajendranagar Police Station added.
