MUMBAI, April 2: Hindustan Organic Chemicals has registered a 12 per cent increase in its turnover to Rs 480 crore for the 1997-98 fiscal against Rs 429.14 crore recorded in the same period of last year. The audited financial results will be declared later.During the year, sales volume increased 11 per cent from 1.73 lakh tonnes to 1.93 lakh tonnea. Production rose 14 per cent to 2.68 lakh tonnes from 2.36 lakh tonnes in 1996-97. The company has claimed that capacity utilisation at all its plant during the year was over 100 per cent, with the phenol plant at Cochin achieving a capacity utilisation of 110 per cent.The export division has achieved a 186 per cent growth during the period with export turnover increasing to Rs 20 crore from seven crore rupees in the same period last year. The first consignment of phenol in ISO tanks were exported directly from the Cochin port to the EU countries.The company also increased its chemicals trading business by 20 per cent during the last fiscal.
