HONG KONG, January 14: A leading Hong Kong newspaper has dispatched teams of photographers to mount a round-the-clock watch on a judge to teach him a lesson about paparazzi, it was reported on Wednesday.

Some eight to 10 staffers from the Oriental Daily News followed judge Gerald Godfrey throughout the day on Tuesday to show him "how real paparazzi behave" after the judge reportedly accused a reporter of the daily of being a paparazzo.

The campaign was followed by a full-page "Letter to the Hong Kong people" published in Oriental Daily on Wednesday to voice its grievances over the treatment.

The case began after Godfrey reportedly refused to allow the newspaper to take rival Apple Daily to the Court of Final Appeal over the reproduction of exclusive pictures of pop singer Faye Wong.

The daily claimed "political harassment" by the Justice Department and said it would publish photographs of the judge.

"I’m indifferent to this and I’m not going to do anything, but if the Secretary of Justice wants to take action, that is another matter," Godfrey was quoted by the South China Morning Post as saying.
