In a sequel to the Salman Khan hit-and-run episode, actor Armaan Kohli was today arrested after he knocked down a motorcylist on Monday night, leaving him with a compound fracture in his right leg.

A blood test has been conducted to check Kohli for alcohol. The victim has said Kohli was drunk at the time of the accident.

The actor-son of producer-director Raj Kumar Kohli, Armaan was driving his Landcruiser Prado towards Versova little past midnight on Monday when he banged into 28-year-old Bijoy Chandran Kadvi’s motorcycle near Four Bungalows, Andheri (West).

According to Senior Police Inspector M.A.K. Shaikh of D.N. Nagar police station: ‘‘Kohli reportedly went up to the victim and identified himself. (But) when crowds started gathering, he fled the scene in fear.’’

He was arrested around 2.45 pm on Tuesday from his residence. ‘‘We are awaiting the reports of the alcohol test and will then decide our course of action,’’ Shaikh said.

Admitted to a nursing home, the victim, owner of Sai Teerth Restaurant in Navi Mumbai, looked in considerable pain on Tuesday. ‘‘I was going to see a friend at Sahar. Kohli’s car came in from the right and hit my leg. I fell off my bike but recognised him immediately. He was smelling of alcohol,’’ Kadvil said.

Doctors say he will have steel plates inserted in his leg for at least a year, Kadvil’s brother-in-law Suresh N. said.
