Hire & fire norms may be eased

The NCEUS will submit a report to the government on labour reforms, advocating formation of unemployment insurance scheme while relaxing hire and fire norms. “The hypothesis that the inflexibilities of labour laws are standing in the way of employment generation is something which we haven’t found to be correct in our studies. Instead, we found is that these inflexibilities are not helping the workers either,” said NCEUS chairman Sengupta. “We would consult the private sector on the issue of the unemployment insurance scheme,” he added.
