NEW DELHI, JULY 26: Last year’s runners-up Hindustan Club rallied to beat a spirited Collegians Club by 3-1 in a group-II match of the Delhi Soccer Association-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.

In a fast and closely-contested encounter both teams played an attacking game and posed serious threats to each other’s citadel. Collegians, combining well through medios Zahid Ali and Raju Ghoshal, spearheaded the attacks and were successful in the 15th minute when state captain Sanjeev Sharma put his side ahead by tapping the ball nicely from inside the box.

Down by this goal, Hindustan bench effected a change by bringing in Nagheshwer Rao in place of Mohan Singh upfront and it paid dividends when defender Mohd. Mobin’s left-footer, a 40-yarder, found the net.

On changing ends, lads of both teams created nroads but forwards fumbled near the goal-line. Hindustan dominated the proceedings when medios Mohd. Khalid and Vivek Sharma with superb ball control penetrated the opponent’s defence and were successful in surging ahead (2-10 in the 50th minute and striker Nageshwaer completed the tally to 3-1 in the 53rd minute.

Earlier, Simla Youngs snatched a vital point by holding title aspirants Youngmen to a goalless draw to share equal points.

Youngmen have collected 11 points from five matches while Simla Youngs have four from six games.

At JNS, Youngsters rallied to hold Delhi Police to a 1-1 draw. Delhi Police took the lead through Multif in the 15th minute while for Youngsters Jitender Kumar equalised 1-1 in the 57th minute. Youngsters have six points from as many matches while Delhi Police have five from five.

In another match, Victory held Fortiners to a goalless draw. Victory have five points from six matches while Frontiers have nine from seven matches.
