MUMBAI, DEC 12: Her Excellency, the most glamorous filly by Placerville out of Academic property of M/s Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla, Viloo C Poonawalla, G Essaji and SP Mistry, added yet another major triumph by winning the UB group-sponsored The Kingfisher Indian 1000 Guineas (Gr.1), the first classic of the current season run on Sunday at Mahalakshmi.

Jockey NG McCullagh kept the charge of trainer Altaf Hussain fifth till the bend in the field of 14 aspirants. He shot ahead at 200 metre mark and registered her sixth unbeaten victory. On this showing she is bound to bag the other Classic (The Indian Oaks too).

Ocean Breeze and Gold Dust were in the forefront and claimed the third and second berth respectively. Heavily supported southern challenger Averoff flopped and finished ninth.

Jockey B Prakash was in the limelight. He romped home a grand treble in the nine-event card of the 7th day of Mumbai meeting in which only three favourites obliged.

Men who opened fire outside actor Disha Patani’s home killed in encounter in Ghaziabad

Two men belonging to the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar Gang were killed in an encounter in Ghaziabad, suspected to be involved in the firing outside Disha Patani's residence. The duo, identified as Ravindra and Arun, were wanted in multiple cases and were spotted by the police through CCTV footage. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had directed for a speedy investigation and strict action against the perpetrators.
