MUMBAI, July 17: Frequent rain showers with few heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast during the next 24 hours in the city and its suburbs as intermittent rains continued on the third day on Saturday. The number of deaths in the State has risen to 36.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall warning has been issued at a few places with very heavy showers at isolated places in Konkan-Goa, central Maharashtra, Marathwada during the next 48 hours. While rainfall of about seven and above centimetres has been forecast at most places in Maharashtra especially at north, south Konkan, north and south central Maharashtra, Marathwada and west, east Vidarbha, the report said.

The Colaba weather bureau recorded 45.2 mm of rainfall while Santacruz recorded 75.0 mm on Saturday morning. Local train services on the central and western side were normal while the harbour trains were running about 15 minutes behind schedule. However, in some places, vehicular traffic had to be diverted due towater logging leading to traffic jams.

On the Central Railway section of Pen and Jite stations on Friday, many express and passenger trains on Konkan railway were either cancelled or diverted due to a severe breach in the track.
