‘He didn’t even pick up his learner’s licence’

A form containing these details arrived on the desk of a licencing officer of the Andheri Regional Transport Office (RTO) two years ago, sending shivers of excitement down the spines of the staff who couldn’t believe that the star of the year’s biggest hit, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, would be walking in for his licence.

As it turned out, Salman never turned up. ‘‘Salman Khan had filled out forms for a learner’s licence. We waited eagerly as he was a big star but he never came,’’ the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Mohiuddin Agha, told The Indian Express. As reported in this newspaper, the Mumbai police have stated that Salman doesn’t have a driver’s licence.
