How do you dress when the summer turns the heat on full blast? It8217;s that time of the year when less is more and clothes seem the last thought on the mind. But if clothes are a passion, like they are for Amrita Verma, then even the hostile weather offers an opportunity to8230; well, dress up.
8220;Pune is too hot this year. It8217;s time to bring out the cottons,8221; says Amrita, 8220;I feel the best thing to wear these days are loose cotton pants. They are airy and very comfortable.8221;
For a hot day at work, Amrita advocates the use of cool informal pants. 8220;One can make them look formal by choosing the right colours. Khaki and beige for the day and white, pista and fuschia for a formal dinner. Top it with a blouse that goes with your figure, and you8217;re ready to take on the world!8221;
Unlike most people, Amrita does not have fixed rules when it comes to dressing. 8220;How I dress personally depends on where I am going and how I want to look. If I am going to my karigars or the shops where I supply my clothes, then jeans and a T-shirt are good enough for me. But if I have to look serious, I wear a salwar kameez or a sari.8221;
Staying cool via cool pants is one thing, but how does one deal with these summer months that are inundated with weddings? 8220;It8217;s simply impossible to wear heavy silks, even if it is to attend a wedding. So I make dressy clothes in cotton. Using various textured cottons for lehengas and dramatising it with a backless choli gives great results.8221;
Of course, this is not to say that one does away with style and glamour in the name of comfort. 8220;With a small amount of embroidery and radiant colours like bright red, pink and fuchsia, even a cotton dress can look immensely majestic.8221;
For those who cannot afford to wear a backless or halter-necked choli, chiffon saris are the answer. 8220;Badla work is the in thing these days. Put it on a chiffon sari and that8217;s all one needs to look dressy. But unlike in the past, when badla work was scattered, now it is put on the fabric in a certain pattern 8211; flowers, motifs8230;8221;
During the summer months, Amrita wears the least amount of jewellery. 8220;What8217;s more appropriate for summers is the neat and clean look with minimum jewellery. I feel a good manicure and pedicure with a good pair of sunglasses are any day preferable to heavy rings and anklets in summer.8221;
