The NCP today threatened the Congress that it would ‘‘disclose the corruption cases of its ministers and leaders if it continued to target NCP ministers’’.The warning comes a day after senior NCP ministers barged into CM Vilasrao Deshmukh’s room. They had told him to rein in Congressmen who were filing cases against NCP ministers ‘‘for no mistake of theirs’’.Cases have been filed against NCP’s Minister of State for General Administrative Department Vijay Gavit and Minister of State for Transport Subhash Thakre. Gavit is accused of distributing funds under Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana without administrative approval, and Thakre is one of the directors of Akola District Cooperative Bank accused of misappropriating Rs 42 crore.NCP spokesman Vasant Chavan said at a press conference here: ‘‘Congress should not target our ministers if they are not involved.’’ In a veiled threat, he said: ‘‘Even we have cases of Congress ministers and leaders. It seems we will have to disclose them now.’’Chavan said the ministers have not been found guilty so the question of asking them to step down does not arise. He took the opportunity to cite the example of Opposition leader Narayan Rane, who attended proceedings in a murder case when he was Revenue minister.Gavit today alleged that he was not allowed to present his side of the story before submitting a report on the case.
