The Haryana Congress has now decided to turn to the general public for help to collect evidence against the alleged misrule of the Om Prakash Chautala-led government. After the rather staid ‘‘chargesheet’’ it had prepared against the INLD government, the party has now decided to insert advertisements in various newspapers, appealing to the people to send proof, especially against Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, his family members, ministers and bureaucrats.

Congress leader Karan Singh Dalal said the advertisements would be published later this week. ‘‘The identities would be kept strictly confidential,’’ said Dalal. Once there is enough evidence, cases would be registered against the offender, he added.

The INLD is hardly impressed. Finance Minister Sampat Singh dismissed the Congress move as a political stunt. State BJP president Ganeshi Lal called the move ‘‘a useless gesture’’ to ‘‘hoodwink’’ the people.
