CHANDIGARH, JUNE 14: A total of 32.09 lakh tonne of wheat had arrived in various grain markets of Haryana till Friday as against 24.35 lakh tonne till date last year.
An official spokesman said, the six government agencies had procured nearly 31.40 lakh tonne of this quantity by surpassing their target of 30 lakh tonne set for this year.
He said that Sirsa topped among all the districts by procuring more than 5.34 lakh tonne of the golden grain followed by Fatehabad with over 3.66 lakh tonne and Karnal with nearly 3.22 lakh tonne.
Giving agency-wise break-up, the official disclosed that Hafed topped with a procurement of 11.63 lakh tonne followed by 7.06 lakh tonne of the Food and Supplies Department, 4.70 lakh tonne of the Food Corporation of India, 3.08 lakh tonne of Haryana Warehousing Corporation, 2.56 lakh tonne of Donfed and 2.35 lakh tonne of Haryana Agro Industries Corporation. Traders have this year purchased only 69,486 tonne of wheat.
