MUMBAI, DEC 29: Chandigarh's 17-year-old Harinder Gupta emerged the overall champion in the Western India juniors and sub-juniors golf championship, sponsored by Classic Stripes Pvt Ltd, which concluded at the Bombay Presidency Golf Course, here, on Friday.A total of 61 participants from all over the country featured in this four-day event, who were divided into four groups. from which Harinder finished with the top score of 297 from four rounds in Group A. Following him home from Group A was Patiala's Jaskreet Singh with 299 and Delhi's M D Wazir with 300. The competition saw youngsters from North India excelling, taking home the top three prizes from all the groups.However, two lads from Mumbai achieved the unthinkable when they both got a hole-in-one on the same day. That honour went to Gagandeep Chhabra from Group A and Karthik Vasudevan from Group D.Following are the top three finishers: Group A: Harinder Gupta (Chandigarh) 297; Jaskeerat Singh (Patiala) 299; M D Wazir (Delhi) 300. Group B: Jaskeerat Dullet (Patiala) 299; Roger Hilton (Dehra Dun) 320; Madhav Verma (Delhi) 322. Group C: Gaganjeet Bhullar (Patiala) 317; Surya Jai Prakash (Delhi) 326; Ajeetesh Sandhu (Chandigarh) 328. Group D: Kanishk Madan (Delhi) 292; Shivkash Ahluwalia (Gurgaon) 307; Khalin Joshi (Bangalore) 328.
