Sufi singer to contest from Jalandhar LS seat

Within minutes of state singer and Sain of Lal Badshah Darbar Hans Raj Hans’ joining the SAD (B) today, he was declared the party candidate from Jalandhar for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

However, many Akalis were not happy over this announcement, as they felt that Hans had made no contribution to the party. Notably, Jalandhar had become a reserved seat after delimitation.

Former BSP leader Pawan Kumar Tinu, who had joined the SAD along with his supporters after leaving the Bhujan Kranti Dal, was also looking dejected, as he was also in the race for a party ticket. He was assured a suitable place and former SAD candidate from Jalandhar Naresh Gujral had openly urged Sukhbir Badal to give him a ticket.

However, Tinu was given the post of SAD Joint Secretary and promised an Assembly ticket in the next elections.

Till date, the SAD has announced four candidates for the LS elections, including Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala from Khadoor Sahib, SS Dhindsa from Sangrur, Deputy LS Speaker Charnajit Singh Atwal from Fatehgarh Sahib and Hans Raj Hans.

In the last polls, Naresh Gujral had fought from Jalandhar.
