A railway court on Thursday extended till June 14 the police custody of director Kaizad Gustad and his colleagues Ashish Udeshi and Hadley D’Mello, in connection with the death of assistant director Nadia Khan. Their bail plea would also be heard on June 14.

Nadia was allegedly hit by a speeding train during the shooting of Mumbai Central at Mahalaxmi station, and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital on May 25. Magistrate A. Rahule gave the ruling on the bail petitions.

The prosecution sought further police custody of Gustad and his two colleagues on the ground that investigation was incomplete and that they had to record the statements of witnesses including railway staff, employees, the film producer and a cameraman.

The court was also told that police had to recover the film shot on the tracks.

Gustad’s lawyers Satish Mandeshinde and Sayaji Nangre argued, there was no need to keep the accused in police custody as their statements were recorded.
