LUDHIANA, Nov 2: The remand of Gurbir Singh, son of former chief minister Gurnam Singh, was extended for a day by Judicial Magistrate Roshan Lal, here today.Before Gurbir Singh was presented before the court, police reinforcements were rushed to the old district courts where slogan-shouting Congress and Akali workers had gathered in large numbers.Speaking to ENS, Gurinder Singh Grewal, brother of Minister for Medical Education Maheshinder Singh Grewal, who filed the FIR which led to the arrest, said: ``This case is not politically motivated. It is about embezzlement of money that belongs to an educational trust. My brother is neither the complainant nor the defendant. He has been dragged into the matter for no reason''.Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders of the district, including Harnam Dass Johar, Gurdev Singh and K.K. Bawa, condemned the arrest and demanded the resignation of Maheshinder Singh.
