The Union Home Ministry issued fresh advisories on Wednesday to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and the National Capital Region in view of the ‘NCR Roko’ call given by the Gujjar community and asked them to take all measures to maintain peace.

The fresh advisories came in the wake of Gujjar violence spreading to the NCR, which has already been put on high alert by the Home Ministry.

Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, who is personally monitoring the situation, is in touch with Director Generals of Police of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, and the Police Commissioner of Delhi.

Gupta has asked the three police chiefs to maintain utmost vigil in vulnerable areas. The capital’s periphery is dotted with pockets of the Gujjar community which is on the warpath demanding Scheduled Tribe status.
