GANDHINAGAR, June 2: Following reports of movement of vehicles of the Pakistani Army across the border, the Gujarat Government has alerted security forces in the Kutch and Banaskantha border areas and requested the Centre to provide two additional battalions of coastal guards.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, Minister of State for Home and Border Security Haren Pandya said forces in the Kutch and Banaskantha border areas were alerted after the State Home Department received information from the Centre about movement of “vehicles and people” in Hyderabad and Karachi.

Pandya said a meeting of senior officials would be convened in Ahmedabad on June 5 to review border security.
