NEW DELHI, Oct 13: The annual plan outlay for Gujarat for 1998-99 has been fixed at Rs 5,450 crore, 21 per cent more than the previous plan outlay.
Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Jaswant Singh today approved the plan outlay at a meeting with state Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala and Industry Minister Suresh Mehta.
Later talking to mediapersons, Patel said the Planning Commission also allocated Rs 21 crore for the state-sponsored `Gokul gram’ scheme meant for the uplift of villagers in a phased manner. Besides, Rs 100 crore would be spent from the annual plan for creating infrastructure facilities in the rural sector.
He said 33 per cent of the plan amount would be spent on social services including water supply, health, education, housing and backward class development.
Association president Mahendra Saluja said that even after completing 13 years of possession of shops, the builder was not handing over the property documents to them. He said that association was registered in 1990 and looking after the maintenance of the building including AC plant, parking place, toilet and electricity.
He said that they would intensify their agitation if their demands are not met by next week. He said that the trouble for association members began when Surat Municipal Corporation sealed several shops in basement and in sixth floor during January this year and learnt from the corporation that the plan to construct in basement and sixth floor was not passed by the corporation.
