Gandhinagar, July 10: Gujarat got a respite from heavy rains in the past 24 hours and only two places in Panchmahal district received rainfall over 50 mm. Halol and Sahera in Panchmahal district recorded 53 mm and 61 mm rainfall respectively. Last week, parts of Gujarat, particularly the Saurashtra regions, experienced torrential rains which claimed 18 lives.

Six deaths were reported from Junagarh, three from Navsari, two each from Surat and Dahod and one each from Anand, Jamangar, Banaksantha, Amreli and Broach districts, official sources said.

PROBE ORDERED: Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Haren Pandya has announced a judicial inquiry into the killing of a police inspector during a protest by parents against fee hike by a school in Vadej area of Ahmedabad city on July two last.
