BANGALORE, MARCH 12: In a macabre incident, seven Dalits, including three women, were burnt alive after a caste Hindu was fatally stabbed at Kambalapalli village, coming under Kencharalahalli police station limits, in Kolar district of Karnataka late on Saturday night. Reports received here on Sunday said, Krishna Reddy was stabbed to death by a 17-member group around 1900 hrs on Saturday. In a retaliatory attack, his supporters and relatives attacked a Harijan colony and set fire to two huts where some of the gang members were staying. While six persons, including women, were charred to death on the spot, one woman died on the way to a hospital. Tension prevailed in the area following the incident and additional forces have been deployed in the village. Senior officials are camping in the area. Chief Minister S M Krishna, who returned from new Delhi on Sunday morning, cancelled his scheduled tour to his home district of Mandya and neighbouring Mysore district and rushed to Kambalapalli. Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge and state Director General of Police T Srinivasulu are camping in the village.
