.

Government has decided to grant general extension of the validity period for the first-come, first-served (FCFS) quotas by 15 days from April 16. The earlier extension for 15 days expired on April 16. No further extension will be given, says a circular issued by Apparel Export Promotion Council.

The move follows requests from overseas buyers and buying agents to put on hold all shipments for now in the wake of the Iraq war. Accordingly, garment exporters association had sent in a representation to textiles minister Kashiram Rana seeking extension of the validity period.
