Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Tuesday that the government will convene a session of parliament starting on Aug 11 to take up a vote of no confidence after the withdrawal of its Left allies.

The exact date will be decided later after a formal communication from the President.

“The Parliament will start from August 11. This session will dispose off the vote of confidence motion,” Mukherjee said.

The Left parties that have provided the UPA with a parliamentary majority for four years said on Tuesday they were withdrawing their support in protest against the civilian nuclear deal with the United States.
