To fill the vacancies in the IPS cadre, the state government plans to send a proposal to the Centre requesting them to allot more than 15 IPS officers for the next three years.
Sources in the Home Department said there are 39 vacancies and the government wants to get not less than 15 IPS officers every year. “This is necessary to shape up the IPS cadre in the state. The state has more than 30 IPS officers who are in the rank of Additional Director General,” said a source in the Home Department.
“The retirement of these officers is a good sign, as the state currently needs IPS officers for the rank of superintendent of police,” he added.
The eight IPS officers who currently hold the Additional Superintendent of Police rank will be promoted to the SP rank in the coming year, said sources. The Secretary (Home), Mahesh Gupta, could not be contacted for further comments.
