NEW DELHI, MAY 3: Home Minister L K Adavi on Wednesday assured the Rajya Sabha that the government was committed to safeguard interests of minorities and bring to book perpetrators of violence against them.

Replying to questions on recent attacks on Christian missionaries in Mathura and Ghaziabad districts of Uttar Pradesh, Advani said it was the primary responsibility of the state governments to look into such problems and maintain public order.

Advani said the Uttar Pradesh government had informed Centre that of the three incidents in Mathura involving Christian schools, two were related to fee hike and admission, while a third was a case of dacoity and no communal angle was involved.

He said in Ghaziabad also the manager of Christraja K G School, Mussori had lodged an FIR about unidentified persons breaking open school building and decamping with Rs 85,000 in cash.
