Govt borrowing at Rs 97,000cr

Government has mopped up Rs 97,000 crore till last week, which is about 68 per cent of the budgeted Rs 1,42,867 crore for the entire fiscal.

With an auction of government securities amounting to Rs 7,000 crore and treasury bills worth Rs 1,000 crore during the last fortnight, Centre completed Rs 97,000 crore of its gross borrowing, pnb gilts said on Tuesday. The gross borrowing so far this fiscal was higher than Rs 86,750 crore mopped up during the same period last year.
