.

The Haryana government has reportedly agreed to withdraw cases against Bhartiaya Kisan Union (BKU) activists after they threatened to disrupt supply of water and electricity from Haryana to Delhi.

The BKU said it would go ahead with the threat if cases registered against its leaders since 1992 are not withdrawn within 48 hours.

Reports from Chandigarh indicates that the government has given in to the demands this evening. The government has despatched instructions to deputy commissioners to set in motion the process of withdrawing the cases.

Earlier, Union president Ghasiram Nain told The Indian Express,‘‘We have nothing against the people of Delhi but we have to take this drastic step to draw the attention of A.B. Vajpayee-led Government which is protecting the anti-farmer government of Chautala.’’ Nain said that all roads to Delhi will blocked, except for Army vehicles and train service.
