CHAMBA, July 26: The state government would remove regional imbalances in the development process, said Himachal Industry Minister Kishori Lal Vaid while inaugurating the week-long international Minjar fair being celebrated in the historical Chogan (grounds) of Chamba. He said the previous Congress government had created imbalances due to political considerations and Chamba had been badly neglected during recent years while five MLAs elected from Chamba were from the Congress. He said in order to get votes the Congress govt had notified various schools, health institutions and other offices while there was no budgetary provisions.Kishori Lal said that within a span of 100 days, the state government has achieved a lot. The compensation worth Rs 66 crore would be provided to the 538 families affected due to construction of Ranjit Sagar Dam (Thein Dam). One family member from each family would be provided job in the project.He said that a plan to provide jobs to unemployed youth has been finalised with 7000 job in the government sector, 55,000 youths to be absorbed by providing self-employment and in industrial units while 68,000 jobs to be created for daily wagers.Kishori Lal disclosed that for providing drinking water in 280 villages of Chamba district, a sum of Rs 9.43 crore have been provided which is Rs. 4 crore more than the last year. The daily margin who have completed 10 years of services are being regularised.Cement factory work at Koti would be started by the end of March 1999 whereas a sum of Rs 20 crore has been allotted as token money for Chamera stage hydel project of 300 mw. The minister disclosed that work on Sal and Holi projects was in full swing.
