Adding more drama to the ongoing tussle between the Raj Bhavan and the government over the transfer of his press secretary, Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi has called the three candidates for an interview on December 19. The candidates were suggested by the government.

“We have sent a letter to the Information & Culture (I&C) department on Wednesday in which the Governor has expressed his desire to have a talk with the three candidates,” K S Rajendra Kumar, secretary to the Governor told The Indian Express.

The episode was triggered when the department ordered the transfer of Dhruba Basu, press secretary of the Governor. Gandhi, however, saw red in the move as Basu was among his favourite officers. Subsequently, his secretary wrote back to the state government that instead of sending just one name the government should send a list of three to four names.
