SAS NAGAR, Nov 1: The three-day-long demonstration by the Godrej GE Employees' Union outside the factory premises protesting against the dismissal and suspension of employees ended here today.Union president Harish Sharma alleged the management stopped the employees today but allowed them to enter the factory after they signed an affidavit that they would work according to the Industrial Employment Act, 1946. He said when they entered the factory, the management again started harassing them and the ladies were not allowed to go the toilet.He claimed that on Saturday, in a meeting of the union representatives and the management, it was assured that the management would not take any action against any employee, but they defied the assurance and terminated four more employees and suspended one. The management tampered with the machines, so they could level a charge against the employees and get an excuse to dismiss them.He further added that the management was keeping contract labour in their place.Plant General Manager S.C.Popli said that returned to work but were not working with responsibility. The ones who had been terminated today had to be fired any way as it was an old complaint, there orders were executed today. He said that the production has gone done by 30 per cent and alleged the union is damaging the machinery and the paint.
