PUNE, Sept 21: There were goals aplenty on the fifth day of the Fr Barco Memorial Inter-School football tournament league phase, at St Vincent's School ground here today.Vidya Bhavan were all over Don Bosco with a 9-1 win in the under-16 section while in the under-14 category, the former succumed to a bombardment by Loyola High School who registered the biggest win in the tourney with a 10-0 scoreline.Led by five-goal Mohit Sinha who scored a hat-trick, the divisional champions Loyola booked a place in the knock-out with two straight wins in the under-14 section.Vidya Bhavan's Venkatesh Iyer scored six goals, twice coming close to a hat-trick.Vidya Bhavan looked a formidable outfit for the first 15 minutes of play, but faded thereafter. It sparked Loyola to score four goals in the just seven minutes before the interval. Shashank Godbole (17th & 18th) and Mohit Sinha were right on the target for the Loyola.Mohit continued splendidly, striking twice soon after the breather with goals in the 27th and 29th minutes of play. After his hat-trick feat , Mohit lay back and left his teammates to do the running. Vidith Tiwari, Shashakn Godbole and Tushar Maruti chipped in with one each before Mohit reemerged to complete the rout in the 42nd minute.Don Bosco were no match for their opponents Vidya Bhavan who opened their account in the 6th minute through Venkatesh Iyer. Iyer made a solo run and put it past the onrushing keeper. Nishant Fernandes made it 2-0 and Venkatesh Iyer struck again for the lads from Shivajinagar to take the interval with a 3-0 lead.Venkatesh Iyer scored four goals in the second session (34th, 39th, 43rd & 47th). Bikram Choudhary (38th) and Varun Jaipal were the other goal scorers for Loyola.Marcus Patole reduced the margin for Vidya Bhavan.Today's fixtures: (Under-14) Vidya Bhavan vs Don Bosco 2 p.m; Vincent's `A' vs Bishops 3 p.m.
