PANAJI, May 31: Goa divers bagged 17 medals, including eight gold to merge overall winners with 77 points in the 15th sub-junior and 25th junior National Diving Championship which concluded at Campal here today.
The hosts beat defending champions Maharastra 59 points to second position, while last year runners-up Bengal were third with 28 points. This was the biggest medal haul for Goa in the championships. In the last edition at Pune, Goa had won three gold, four silver and as many bronze.
In this meet Goa won eight gold, four silver and five bronze medals while Maharastra won five gold, four silver and seven bronze.
The hosts also set seven of the 11 records that were set in the meet.
