CHANDIGARH, MAY 1: Rama Chhibber, wife of Punjab Governor, Lt. Gen. ( Retd), BKN Chhibber today called upon the bank and other financial institutions to chalk out a separate credit package for women entrepreneurs to enable them to meet their credit needs.

Speaking after inaugurating “Mahila Shakti Mela” organised by Chandigarh Social Welfare Advisory Board at Lala Lajpat Rai Bhavan here today, Rama Chhibber said that it was difficult for women entrepreneurs to stand on their own feet in the male dominated society because of the consistent problems they face in banks and other financial institutions. She suggested that the administration should form a coordination committee which should have representatives of women entrepreneurs, banks, financial institutions and the administration on their panel to smoothen the credit disbursal process for women entrepreneurs.

She said that in this age of competition and liberalised economy, women entrepreneurs would have to concentrate on the quality control, to carve out a niche for themselves in the export market. Twenty five stalls, including 5 of non-government organisations, have been put up by various artisans in the exhibition to directly market their handicrafts to the public.

The mela would continue till May 3.
