NABHA, Oct 11: A young girl employed in a private mill was killed and 30 of her colleagues, all girls, injured when the bus they were travelling in met with an accident near Dhingi village, on the Nabha-Malerkotla road, this morning.
A bus of the Nahar Spinning Mill, Jeetwal Kalan, near Ahmedgarh, was proceeding towards the mill from Nabha after picking up 38 girl employees from here and nearby villages when around 7 a.m. it skidded off the road while the driver tried to avoid a rehra coming from the opposite direction. In the process, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital here where nine of the girls who had got fractures in their limbs were given a plaster cast while the others were discharged after first aid. Rajinder Pal Kaur, 22, died on the spot. Her body was handed over to her parents after a post-mortem. The deceased belonged to Ajnauda Kalan village. Harbans Singh, driver of the bus, also sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital. SDM Zora Singh said the mill authorities had agreed to bear the medical expenses of the injured.
