Giggly Amrozi shores up Bali probe doubts

Ordinary Indonesians are not convinced Javanese mechanic Amrozi is the person police should be quizzing as their chief Bali bombing suspect and are refusing to buy into a recent bizarre interrogation to show he is for real.

They believe the poorly educated Amrozi — who has confessed his involvement in last month’s attack which killed nearly 200 foreign tourists — is not smart enough to hatch a bomb.

Police credibility was eroded last Wednesday when they paraded a gloating and giggling Amrozi before scores of journalists at Bali police headquarters in an almost hour-long spectacle designed to show Amrozi was for real.
