MUMBAI, OCT 13: HK Gidwani School, Mulund were taken to the wire by Pant Walavalkar, Kurla in the final of the Under-17 boys DSO (Eastern suburbs) Inter-school volleyball tournament at Somaiya College, Vidyavihar, today. HK Gidwani won 20-25 25-23 25-22. In the Under-14 final, the boys from Smt RS Singh Vidyamandir, Bhandup, defeated Udayachal 25-23 25-22.

The Under-19 final will be contested by VG Vaze and Somaiya Science. They defeated SK Vinaymandir and Vani Vidyalaya respectively in the semi-final today.

The winners will clash with the champions of the DSO (Western) zonals, being held at Sathaye College.

Roshan, Netra triumph

Roshan Kajrolkar and Netra Chunekar of Mumbai District won the sub-junior boys and girls final in the Selection trials Carrom tournament organised by the Worli Sports Club.

Second seed Kajrolkar defeated top seed Shailesh Rathod 25-13, 25-17 in the final while top seed Netra won 25-12, 25-9 against second-seeded Komal Kajrolkar.

The State sub-junior and cadet teams for the National and Inter-State championships, to be held at Thiruvananthapuram from October 25 was announced.

Teams

Boys (sub-junior): Roshan Kajrolkar, Shailesh Rathod, Pravin Bagade, Harshad Wala, Pankaj Pawar and Sagar Govilkar. Cadets: Sagar Tayade, Abhijeet Deshmukh.
