NEW DELHI, OCT 4: The Election Commission has asked the government to get back to business.

The model code of conduct imposed in the run-up to the general elections will no longer be applicable with the fifth and final phase of the polls to elect the 13th Lok Sabha getting over on Sunday.

With only a handful of constituencies yet to go to the polls, and voting completed for the rest of the country and the five state Assemblies, the Commission today said the government could carry on with its normal business without referring decisions to the EC.

The Commission came out with the order after a reference from the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding the inauguration of two aero-bridges constructed at Bangalore airport.

“Now that voting is over, the Government of India may please proceed with its normal business without reference to the EC", the order said.
