Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf might take a chopper to Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium for the India-Pakistan ODI on April 17. The Delhi Fire Service has made arrangements for take-off and landing of helicopters to ferry VVIPs to the stadium.

Fire chief R.C. Sharma said: ‘‘The matter was discussed in a meeting with various agencies at the stadium wherein we were told that a helicopter could be used by the VVIPs. We have made the required arrangements.’’ A helipad has been constructed at Dr Ambedkar Stadium.

The helicopter, Sharma said, would land at the nearby Dr Ambedkar Stadium where ‘‘special arrangements’’ had been made. ‘‘Extra fire engines would be deployed as special measures have to be taken whenever a chopper is used,’’ he said. This would be the first time ever that a chopper is used to bring VVIPs to the stadium.

Sharma, however, is not aware of the VVIPs who would be using the chopper. ‘‘We don’t know who would use the helicopter. Our job was to make the arrangements,’’ he said.

Fire officials have identified four points at Kotla stadium where nine fire tenders would be stationed. At least 70 firemen will be deployed.
