
CHANDIGARH, Jan 3: Chief of the Army Staff, Gen V.P. Malik today flew to Headquarters Northern Command, Udhampur, at the end of his three-day visit to Western Command, Chandimandir near here. He was given a warm send off at the Air Force Station by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lt Gen H.B. Kala.
He will be making a brief stop over in Chandigarh on his return tomorrow, where his wife, Dr Ranjana Malik, will join him on their way back to New Delhi.
During his stay here, he was introduced to heads of different branches and senior functionaries of the command as well as given an operational presentation. The General also addressed officers of the rank of Colonel and above.
Meanwhile, Dr Ranjana Malik was shown various activities being undertaken by the Army Wives Welfare Association, including the recently set up commuter training institute, vehicle service centre. She also discussed welfare measures and other AWWA schemes with ladies.
