While the cricketing fraternity celebrated Sachin Tendulkar’s most run feat, Sourav Ganguly quietly moved past a milestone when he became the fourth Indian batsman to cross 7000 runs in Tests.

The left-hander, set to retire after the four-match Test series against Australia, went past the landmark when he scored 40 during the first day of the second Test in Mohali.

Ganguly took 111 Tests to achieve this feat. The other three members of the 7000-club are Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid.

The moment came an hour after Tendulkar surpassed Brian Lara’s earlier 11953 runs to become Test cricket’s highest run-getter.
