Legendary all-rounder Kapil dev, thrilled at India’s historic win against Australia in Adelaide Test, today hailed skipper Saurav Ganguly’s ‘‘able leadership’’ but felt the left-hander has a long way to go before he could be tagged as the best Indian captain ever.‘‘Saurav still has a long way to go before he can be called India’s best captain ever. It is too early to say he is the best,’’ Kapil, who led India to its only World Cup triumph in 1983, said.About comparisons drawn between Ganguly and his predecessors Sunil Gavaskar and Mansur Ali khan Pataudi, Kapil said ‘‘if you ask me if he (Ganguly) is the best, I can’t say it just now. I will not like to compare him with Gavaskar and Pataudi at this point.‘‘But, yes, the media is doing it and we are happy with that he is being compared,’’ said Kapil, here to take part in an amateur golf tournament at Royal Calcutta Golf Club, said.Kapil said he was enthralled at India’s splendid four-wicket victory in the second Test against Australia. ‘‘It is an incredible victory. I am really thrilled the way they played as a team’’.Kapil, the highest wicket-taker among Indians in Tests, said Ajit Agarkar, who staged the set for the victory with his fiery spell in the second innings, should bowled a little more consistently.‘‘Agarkar bowled pretty well. But he needs to be more consistent to keep his place in the team.’’
