With Uttarakhand receiving incessant rains since the past four days, a red alert has been sounded all along the banks of the Ganga, which was flowing near danger mark at Rishikesh on Monday. According to officials, the warning has been issued for all towns and cities situated on the banks of the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where the flood situation is likely to worsen. All flood control centres up to Patna have been put on high alert by the Central Water Commission (CWC). Ganga in Hardwar is flowing at 293.80 metres, just 20 cm below the danger mark, CWC office release said. Similarly, its level in Rishikesh is just one metre below the danger mark, the release added.
