JIND, Oct 20: The Jind police today claimed to have busted a gang of dacoits and vehicle snatchers operating in this district and adjoining areas.
Superintendent of Police Ranbir Sharma said that the police received information that the culprits were hiding near Ekkas village, three km from here and were planning to rob a liquor vend at Ram Rai village. A police party conducted a raid at their hide-out on Saturday night and arrested five members of the gang, including its kingpin. Two criminals fled. The police have recovered one 315-bore pistol, some live cartridges and a car stolen from Panipat.
The persons arrested have been identified as Suresh, Sanjay, Bijender all residents of Rajpura Bhain village, Kailash from Nagura village and Naresh from Rai Chandwala village. The three members from Rajpura Bhain are reported to be students. The culprits who fled were identified as Ramesh and Raja.
The police has registered a case of dacoity against the culprits.
