Chennai, January 23: Indian openers Gautam Gambhir and Vinayak Mane flayed the England bowlers to slam double centuries on the final day of the second under-19 cricket Test here on Tuesday. The match ended in a draw to keep India 1-0 up in the three-Test series.

Gambhir who hails from Delhi, hammered 212 (356m, 241b, 25×4, 2×6) while Mane (Mumbai) made 201 (312m, 239b, 23×4, 4×6) in their exciting 391-run association. As coach Roger Binny preferred some bowling practice, India skipper and wicket-keeper Ajay Ratra declared the second innings at 492 for 4 after lunch setting England a target of 325 to be scored in 41 overs.

The match was called off when England were 64 for 2 after completion of the eighth mandatory over.

Resuming at 241, the left and right hand combination of Gambhir and Mane prospered to frustrate the visitors on the hard wicket.
