Fun time for kids at talent search contest

KHARAR, Oct 29: There was a lot of fun in store for small children and their parents at the Rainbowz Young Talent Search ’99 (RYTS ’99), the first round of which was held here today.

Over 600 children from about 100 schools of Chandigarh, SAS Nagar and Panchkula participated in the contests. A big feature of the contest was that it was held in the open, amidst large landscaped lawns and water features.

For the first part of the final selection event for children under 10 years of age, there were many fun games such as treasure hunt, musical chairs, guess how many and others. And instead of the usual painting competition or quiz, the elimination contest was in the form of a simple jig-saw puzzle.

The following participants qualified for the finals:
Rajan Chaudhary of Bright Public School, Rishab Bansal and Shivinder Singh Rawal of Ajit Karam Singh (I) Public School, Ashish Chaudhary of Yadavindra Public School, Sahil Talwar and Arjun Talwar of Vivek High School, Sahil Garg, Karan Garg and Akshit Pushkarna of St Stephen’s Public School, Parul Jaiswal, Anikshri Pahwa and Pushipinder Singh of Shivalik Public School, Gagan Barwaj of G.B. Public School, Ayush Kaushal of DAV Public School, Chandigarh, Alamjit Singh Sohal of St John’s High School, Gagandeep Singh of DAV Public School, SAS Nagar, Deepika Bedi of Sacred Heart School, Anjul Moon of St Stephen’s Public School, Sector 10, Chandigarh, and Eshan Sharma of Bhawan Vidyalaya. The next part of the talent search is scheduled to be held on October 31, which will be the preliminary round for children above 10 years of age. The finals of the talent search are scheduled for November 14 at the Rainbowz Country Park in Kharar.
