The 1,100-strong RSS Pratinidhi Sabha, comprising delegates from the 32 frontal organisations of the Parivar, today concluded its three-day conclave here, sending out clear signals to all concerned that the Parivar will stand strongly behind the BJP ahead of the general elections next year. Apparently happy with the BJP for implementing many of the ideas which the RSS has been talking about, and convinced about the ‘‘all-pervading’’ Hindutva clout, the RSS didn’t want to say or do anything silly that could put the BJP in the dock. Young blood at helm NAGPUR: The Sabha re-elected Mohan Bhagwat as RSS Sarkaryawah. Sahsarkaryawah H.V. Sheshadri and spokesman M.G. Vaidya quit their posts ‘‘due to old age and health’’. While Madan Dass Devi has been retained as a Sahsarkaryawah, Suresh Soni and Bhaiyyaji Joshi have been named the new incumbents. Ram Madhav is now the spokesman with full charge. (ENS) Not only did it praise the Government on issues like ban on genetically modified (GM) foods, river-linking plan and encouragement to bio-fuel, all of which have found an expression in the speeches and statements emanating from RSS bosses for sometime now, but also unambiguously said the Centre was doing everything possible on the Ram temple issue. It also told the VHP to tone down its anti-BJP rhetoric. It, however, didn’t hesitate to ask for an explanation from the BJP about its poor show in Himachal. That, of course, was out of its ‘‘parental’’ concern that the BJP shouldn’t lose out due to ‘‘groupism and individualism’’. Among the major issues discussed at the meet were the 125th birth anniversary of French Mother of Pondicherry, late Sarsanghchalak M.S. Golwalkar’s birth centenary celebrations in 2006, the Savarkar portrait issue, agricultural priorities and the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal) Act of Assam. While the French Mother’s birth celebrations have been specially designed to make the point that RSS can accept ‘‘a foreigner which has become one with this nation’’ but not the one coming here ‘‘to become a prime minister’’, the resolution on Savarkar was aimed at ‘‘exposing’’ the contradictions in the Congress and Leftist stand on the issue. The Pratinidhi Sabha also called to repeal the relevant Assam Act to end the influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh,. Talking to reporters, All India Prachar Pramukh Shrikant Joshi said the RSS resolution on agriculture calls for encouraging bio-fertilisers. He seemed to suggest that, as such, the RSS wasn’t concerned about rise in chemical fertilisers prices. The resolution also calls for encouraging farmers to manufacture bio-fuel and ethanol. The idea was specifically mentioned by RSS chief K.S. Sudershan in his Dussehra speech. Petroleum Minister Ram Naik had subsequently incorporated bio-fuel in his scheme of things. One of the major events was inter-linking of rivers project chief Suresh Prabhu’s briefing of the delegates. The extraordinary interest taken by the RSS in the project and the relevant literature displayed at the stalls at the venue suggest that it could have been the driving force behind the resurrection of the project.
