Friends, we have also Action Taken Report

Arrey, I am saying again, nothing serious happened in Gujarat. Take my words for it. See, there was some small problems, I am not denying. But man ho to malve jawai, where there is a will there is a way. We suppressed all trouble. Our policemen were sent to each and every spot where there was chut-put trouble and they took prompt action. I am not denying there was a little reaction after Sabarmati train was burning, but that is natural. Scientific, in fact. Har kriya ki pratikriya hoti hi hai. Rajiv Gandhi himself had propounded on this principle when he observed that when a big tree falls, there will be some shakes. I am agreeing. And culprits are culprits as ame, we, say in Gujarat — jevun vave tevun lane, as you sow you reap. So our chakrao, boys, I am not denying, did some extra chokarmat (mischief) and troubled some people, but otherwise there was peace. Come to my Gujarat and see.

Our slogan is, ‘‘Always Enterprising, Gujarat.’’ In that spirit only I am being enterprising. So I have already written Action Taken Report before even Justice Nanavati Commission can give his Report on Gujarat riots.

Pehlo, first, point in my Action Taken Report: Our government brought situation under control within 72 hours, a record time in history of country rioting. We did this by booking the perpetrators of Godhra under Pota, jhatpat, instantly. I am defying you, no other government has been so effective. Prompt action. Gujarat can, Gujarat will.

Bijo, second, point. My government went through all police FIRs in order to identify true culprits who are spreading falsehood and punished them. All those who have given false testimony against police, government officials for purpose of casting Gujarat in bad light had to retract their words, nahito, otherwise, they will be facing music. We must be strict about these things, nahito they will make life hell for us. Prompt Action. Gujarat Can, Gujarat Will.

Trijo, third, point, we have taken action against the real nuisance fellows. We scrutinised police FIRs to identify those who really, genuinely, committed big offence. Not chut-put things like throwing some gas cylinders around, knifing someone here or there, troubling some women somewhere — minor offences that boys in every state commit — but really big-big offence. And you know what we found out — this is not surprising me — that all the trouble-makers were outsiders paid by the Congress to embarrass fair name of Gujarat. They are all in jail, now. Chautho, fourth, point. We have taken action against erring policemen, anyone who was displaying derilikshun of duty. Any police officer who is thinking himself hero and doing action contrary to wishes of government; any police officer who assisted the trouble-makers by helping them to escape from mobs, etc, have been transferred or dismissed from job. Other governments hesitate to take action against police who do mischief, not our government. Prompt Action Taken. Gujarat Can, Gujarat Will.

Panchmo, fifth, point. We have also taken action against politicians who added to the trouble by trying to take advantage of disturbances. Even those in my party — especially those in my own party — who were found to create disturbances for me and my government. They have been sidelined or pushed out. Now only one thing I am needing to do to be fully prepared for Nanavati Report. I want some advice from Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patilji, on how to construct ATR. I am admiring the way he did it. Such good whitewashing. Also I want to ask him where I can get good quality whitewash at cheap rate. I am not wanting to burden state government exchequer unduly. Satyameva jayete. Jai Gujarat!
