Two-time Olympic silver medallist Frankie Fredericks of Namibia swept the 100 and 200 sprints yesterday at the Raiffeisen Gugl-meeting, winning the 100m in 10.19 seconds and taking the 200m in 20.15.

Fredericks, who won a pair of gold medals in the same two events earlier this month at the African Championships, is planning to retire from international competition next year.

In the men’s long jump, Dwight Phillips of the United States jumped a personal best 8.38 meters to beat Olexey Luashevich of Ukraine (8.01m) and Hussein al Sa Bee of Saudi arabia (7.92m).
